Val, Thank you for your thoughts.

Tessa, I saw a reference (on FaceBook, I think) that indicated that Skrappy may have been gone. It seems like only yesterday -- and a lifetime ago -- that Todd and Skrappy would join JR and me for a coffee and we would talk about the plans for the restaurant that was to be, and sadly will be no longer.

Blondie, Walking in the door in the evening and not having him demanding to be fed is one of the hardest times of the day for me right now.

I am so sorry Michael. As I read this, tears filled my eyes. I thought about the many times we were talking on the phone and hearing Boris telling you it was time for his dinner. He would meow so loud that it was difficult for us to hear each other. What a great personality he had.

Sorry to hear about your dear pet. We lost our sweet Skrappy just 5 weeks ago and are still struggling with our grief.
We need to just remember and smile.

Michael, I'm so sorry. The last time I lost a cat (almost ten years ago now) I cried for a week.

Thank you Julie. In my head I know we did the absolutely right thing for Boris this week, but my heart aches every time I pass his favorite places to sit or sleep and fully expect to see him right there -- as he has been for so many years.

Oh Michael,
We lost our family cat who lived to be 23 and my mom couldn't even drag herself out of bed to go to work. You are so lucky to have had this beautiful guy Boris around for 20 years. His long life was due to the extra special care and love you gave him. I know he was a member of your family and I am so very sad for you. My eyes are filled with tears as I read your tribute.
When I put my last Lab down 3 years ago I was a wreck. I totally understand your immense pain. Nothing like losing an animal. Hardest thing on earth. They never seem to die naturally in their sleep. Doesn't ever work out that way.
I am so very very sorry for you. You are very much in my prayers.
You did the right thing.

Michael,
There are really no words to say - just know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your letter says it all and so well expresses what many of us cannot at the loss of a beloved pet, who like Boris, was truly a part of the family. We too will miss Boris and are very glad we had the opportunity to meet him. What a beautiful tribute to him!

Over (what to call you?),

Thank you. I am happy that you got to meet Boris. I cannot tell you how many times over the last several days I thought of cats I have never even met -- particularly Koko and L.B. of whom I have heard many stories.
